Basic info, tips and fun facts about container gardening – plants, flowers, and more
Container Gardening is so much fun and easy to do. If you want to add a pop of color to a spot on your deck, or patio, plant a flower in a pot and place it outside. This will add some color and greenery to your outside places. If you would love to grow some fruits and vegetables instead of purchasing them from the market, containers are an excellent solution. You simply plant flowers, vegetables, and other plants in pots and other type of container after adding potting mix and water. There are a few tips and tricks to help them grow, too.
I enjoy sharing my tips, fun facts, and just the basics of plants and flowers. You will notice as you return, there is more content added to pages and more pages by the week. There is always something being added or updated to keep you informed about how to care for and grow your plants.
Looking to add some vibrant pops of color to your indoor or outdoor spaces?
I have been planting in pots since I moved into my house in Pennsylvania in 1998. Even though I have some flower beds around the house, I still wanted more space to garden. In addition, I wanted to add some pops of color and interest around the outside of my home.
So, I started with a few pots, and then it continued. Now I have them all over my front patio, back patio, upper decks and even in the rock gardens. Now, I currently have 8 pots on my front patio and at the back of my house on the patio and deck, there are 20 pots and containers.
Fun container gardening ideas and helpful green thumb tips
I enjoy sharing my tips and planting ideas. Since there is a wide variety of plants and containers, ideas to add some color or greenery in the home are endless. The advantage of container gardening is that you can place them anywhere you would like to add some color to your indoor or outdoor spaces.
Besides planting in pots, I also have many artificial arrangements that I enjoy working on inside the house. Because I have always had cats and found it impossible to grow the plants in the house, so I have made beautiful arrangements to add the same color and greenery inside my home. I also enjoyed painting indoor plants in my office. So I can share some of my favorites with you.
Annual Flowers or Perennial Flowers?
This is a question I get every year from my friends and family.
An annual plant has a life span of only one season. So if you spend the money on an annual plant this year, you will also have to purchase it again next year. In my home state of Pennsylvania, the summer annual growing season only lasts from late May/early June until the middle of September.
A perennial plant will come back year after year. These plants will cost a little more than your annual plants, but they return year after year. Most will die at the end of the season like the annual plants and you may need to cut them back, but next year you will admire their beauty once again. If you want to plant them as a container plant; you need a larger container to allow them to survive the winter.
Continue to come back and check out all the new blogs that have being posted throughout the year. I have some fun to share for all the seasons and holidays to come.
